World No 1 Andy Murray has been given a wild card for the Shanghai Masters of next month.
The three-time Grand Slam winner is continuing his comeback as a singles player following his hip operation in January – this summer having eased his way back into action by playing doubles.
He is set starting in Beijing and Zhuhai including three consecutive weeks in China, and culminating in the Shanghai Pros, where he’s a champion.
He explained:”I am really looking forward to be going back to Shanghai, a championship I have had success in the past – the last time I was there was in 2016.
“Due to this championship for a wild card, it is great to have the ability to keep my comeback and play more tennis in China.
“Shanghai is a terrific city, I’m comfortable there and the fans are always supportive.”
Murray endured first round leaves at the Winston-Salem Open in his early singles excursions along with the Cincinnati Masters since the surgery on his hip.
He then played with a Challenger event before bowing out, where he attained the last 16.
The Zhuhai Championships start on September 23 – and Murray has also signed up for the European Open.
