League of Legends Worlds Group Stage Day One Round-Up

The League of Legends World Championship is finally here. To get the Cup of the Summoner, 16 of the planets best teams have started their struggle Following a week of play-ins.
Teams Group A might need to wait until tomorrow to kick off their hard campaign but C Groups B and D also have had. From Faker return to Worlds to the shock defeat of FPX to J Team, here is a round-up of the actions from day 1 of the Worlds Group Stage.
SKT chose their return with a victory over Fnatic in the first game of the group stage. It was an interesting match from the outset Hylissangs Garen along with as Teddy decided to play with Kayle in to Rekkles and Yuumi – leaving Faker on the Tristana which proved since the mid laner ended up using a 9/0 KDA to be successful.
The LCK seed didnt hold back as they secured every dragon of this game and ripped themselves 21 kills.
But the service Hylissang of Fnatic admits that while he did not believe his side went to lose, hes happy to get the mistakes out of the way early on.
He explained:I have mixed feelings. We had different expectations although I feel as if we did alright. It feels better since I do not believe we played well, that we lost – . Im just glad that we made these mistakes early in the tournament because weve got time.
I believe SKT played well but I also think they played slow. I feel as though if we had been the enemy group wed have snowballed the match quicker and took much more battles than they did Although we lost. We werent able to capitalise on them and punish them although they made mistakes too.
I expect us to go far in the tournament but I can not actually say how far. First, we must get out of Groups and if we get out of the group it says a good deal in my opinion.
Group C was dubbed thegroup of death however, RNG are determined to escape it alive once they obliterated Clutch Gaming with a gold lead.
When Damonte baited Xiahou into his jungle to fasten Blood with the support of Liras Nocturne clutch made a good start. But their luck more or less stopped there as RNG procured three kills that were quick to take the lead.
Uzi had the perfect KDA on Xayah, the Renekton of Langx was unstoppable and Mings Blitzcrank was a convenient choice because he picked off Cody Sun in the team struggle that won RNG this game.
Invictus Gambling was given a run for their money by the ahq of LMS but they were not quite able to conquer the defending champions.
The ADC Wako of ahq managed his own counterpart JackeyLove early but IG didnt give their opponents the chance to snowball. Their game turned around with a few skirmishes and group fights despite dropping the turret and the Rift Herald into ahq.
Most importantly, the LPL third seed compelled a struggle throughout Baron, turned to their competitions and was able to kill four to eventually finish the game in 29 minutes which was the quickest game of the afternoon.
The very first upset of the day came in the match when Team Liquid took Koreas Damwon Gambling. High expectations were set after their clean sweep in beating and play-ins at scrims for Damwon despite being the third seed in Korea.
Following Impact killed Nuguri and Doublelift bagged himself a quadra kill Team Id pulled off an impressive win. Along with their second Baron enthusiast of this match, the North American side managed to seal an important victory over Damwon and CoreJJ believes that it was not that much of surprise.
He explained:Im really thrilled that we won against a group that I consider a strong team but we believed we would win because we are the very best seed out of NA and theyre the seed from LCK.
North America has traditionally been regarded as a weaker region within the Worlds stage – something CoreJJ thrives off.
He explained:I trust people keep flaming us till the end since it feels much better to win when they do not expect you to triumph
J Teams success over FunPlus Phoenix was undoubtedly the days biggest upset. Even the LMS side left their Worlds introduction when they faced LPLs number one seed showed that there were a lot they had to improve on.
Despite carrying almost all the dragons in the sport and having first blood, FPX appeared weaker in team fights and J Team managed to pick off members of the side over and over again.
The FoFo of J Team admits the victory came as a surprise and is so convinced his team can beat Splyce and GAM if they are in a position to keep their form.
He explained:We all think that its really incredible that we beat LPLs first seed and were really pleased about it. We didnt expect to beat on them we gave it our all and we all wanted to appreciate our time at Worlds.
I havent actually thought about if we will get from classes or not – all I want is for our team to do to the maximum of our skills. If were in great shape then I believe we can beat all the other teams in our team but if were not, we probably will not have the ability to win any of these matches.
Splyce proved themselves to be a competitor in Group B because they conquer GAM Esports in the previous match of the day.
Humanoid, Splyce mid laner that iss 19-year-old was one of the standout players of this game. Levi was able together with his Kha zix to assassinated Humanoid however, it did not stop Splyce from making EU their first win of the tournament and securing Baron.
