Daniel Jones to replace Eli Manning as starting Giants quarterback.

The New York Giants have declared rookie Daniel Jones will replace Eli Manning as their starting quarterback.
Jones, drafted sixth overall is set to make his first start against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Coach Pat Shurmur broke the news to veteran quarterback Manning on Tuesday afternoon, also admits the two-time Super Bowl winner wasn’t pleased.
“I told him that we are making a change and moving with Daniel since the newcomer,” Shurmur said.
“Eli was obviously disappointed, as you would expect, but he stated he’d be exactly what he has always been, a fantastic team-mate, and continue to prepare to help this team win games. Daniel understands the challenge in hand, and he will be prepared to play Sunday.”
Manning now holds all of the Giants’ career passing records.
“Ultimately, this is a move that I felt was best for this team currently,” Shurmur added.
“I’ve said it since I got here, I am rather fond of Eli. His preparation, his work ethic, his football intelligence. Those attributes are as great as I have ever seen at a participant. And Eli worked as hard as you can ask of anyone to get ready for this year.
“This move is more about Daniel moving ahead than approximately Eli.”
The Giants are 0-2 with Manning as starting quarterback this year, with a passer rating of 78.7.
